Kien Giang - Phu Quoc City Fire Department is urgently controlling the fire in Ong Lang Hamlet, Cua Duong Commune.

On March 9, Mr. Tran Thanh Duoc - Deputy Head of the Forest Protection Department of Kien Giang Province - said that the Phu Quoc Forest Protection Force is coordinating with the fire prevention and fighting force of Phu Quoc City to urgently control the fire in Ong Lang Hamlet, Cua Duong Commune.

According to initial information, on the afternoon of March 9, a fire broke out in the land area of the Phu Quoc island ecological calendar project in Ong Lang hamlet, Cua Duong commune. Many people said that standing in the distance, they could see a column of black smoke rising high, spreading throughout the area.

Immediately after receiving the information, Phu Quoc Forest Protection Department and Phu Quoc City Fire Department mobilized many fire trucks to the area where the fire broke out to put out the fire.

Mr. Duoc also informed that the fire area had many dusty trees and weeds, and when the fire encountered strong winds, it spread very quickly, with a fairly large area, making it difficult to access. The fire fighting force is still trying to control the fire, not allowing the fire to spread to other areas.

Previously, on February 11, a large fire also broke out in the land area of the Phu Quoc island eco-tourism project, causing damage to about 38 hectares. Currently, many forest areas in Phu Quoc City are warned of forest fires at level V, an extremely dangerous level.
