Consecutive earthquakes in Kon Tum, mountainous Quang Nam shake

Two consecutive earthquakes measuring 3.8 to 4 on the Richter scale struck Kon Tum, causing the mountainous region of Quang Nam to shake.

On the evening of November 30, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Geophysics said that at 16:42:10 on the same day, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale occurred.

The earthquake occurred at the coordinates (14.953 degrees North latitude, 108.142 degrees East longitude), in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province; focal depth about 8.1 km.

About 30 minutes later, another earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale occurred at the coordinates (14.958 degrees North latitude, 108.135 degrees East longitude), in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province; focal depth about 10 km.

Although the earthquake occurred in Kon Tum province, many people living in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province clearly felt the shaking.

Ms. Diem Quynh (in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam) said: "I was at home when I heard a loud shaking, it felt like the ceiling collapsed. I'm still scared."

According to Mr. Tran Van Thuong - Chairman of Tra Vinh Commune People's Committee, Nam Tra My District: "The earthquake occurred in Kon Plong District but houses of people in Tra Vinh Commune still shook strongly, making people scared, many people in their houses ran out."

Initial statistics show that these two earthquakes have not recorded any damage to people, houses, or property in Kon Plong (Kon Tum) and Nam Tra My (Quang Nam).

Previously, from November 26 to 28, Kon Plong district experienced 18 earthquakes.
