On September 25, information from Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu had a meeting and working session with Pacific Petroleum Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company.
At the meeting, Mr. Toshihiko Nakano - General Director of Pacific Petroleum Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company - said that the Company is exploring opportunities to invest in building a waste treatment plant to produce biogas gas in Dong Thap province. This is a project that the Company expects to bring many socio-economic values, while also being in line with the current trend of developing clean energy and renewable energy. Along with that, the Company also hopes to connect and introduce to businesses operating in the fields of food processing, vegetable processing and fruits to be able to research and learn about the source of raw materials for biogas gas production, contributing to environmental protection.
According to statistics, the total volume of domestic solid waste generated in Dong Thap province is currently about 2,546 tons/day, of which the volume collected, transported and processed in 21 treatment areas is about 1,781.6 tons/day. The rate of urban solid waste collected and treated is from 94% - 99.91%, rural areas are from 75% - 91.05% of total output.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province Nguyen Thanh Dieu said that the province currently has more than 40 agricultural and food processing facilities in operation, generating about 600 tons of waste/day, this is a common source of solid waste, but currently the facilities are having difficulty finding treatment units. Therefore, the interest and research of the Pacific Petroleum Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company in investing in a solid waste treatment plant to produce biogas gas not only contributes to solving environmental problems but also creates more motivation for the province to move towards a green economy, sustainable development, reducing carbon emissions and effectively using resources.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province emphasized that the province will always accompany and create all favorable conditions for investors to learn, cooperate and implement projects, especially waste treatment projects, environmental protection and clean energy development.
