Hoping to soon end the roundabout situation

These days, the construction site of the Giao Hoa Riverbank Erosion Prevention and Treatment Project is always bustling. Machinery is operating continuously, workers are urgently constructing, making people in Chau Thanh hamlet, Giao Long commune even more excited.

According to local people, before the project was implemented, landslides caused many households to live in anxiety. Not only worried about losing land and houses, people's travel also faced many difficulties.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nganh - Head of Chau Thanh hamlet - said that the landslide area once greatly affected people's lives. Travel and transportation of goods face many obstacles, especially in the rainy season. People really hope the project will be completed soon.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - a resident of Giao Long commune - said that many households are very happy to see the project being accelerated. Previously, due to landslides affecting the riverside road, people had to go around more than 5km to get to the market.

Now seeing workers working continuously, everyone is happy. We hope the project will be completed soon so that travel is more convenient and there is no longer worry about landslides threatening houses as before," Ms. Hanh said.

Many local people expect that when the project is completed, it will protect the riverside road, create favorable conditions for trade, production and daily life, contributing to stabilizing long-term life.

Accelerate construction

At the construction site of the Giao Hoa River embankment erosion treatment project, machinery, equipment and workers are mobilized to the maximum to take advantage of favorable weather to speed up progress.

Mr. Nguyen Le Phung - Project Commander - said that the construction unit has arranged manpower to work day and night to ensure progress. The pile driving items have been completed, and the construction site is currently focusing on treating erosion holes and reinforcing the embankment.

According to the Vinh Long Provincial Agricultural Project Management Board, the project is implemented under an emergency construction order to promptly prevent landslides, protect the lives and property of people and riverside infrastructure. The project has a total investment of 19.6 billion VND.

Mr. Le Minh Truyen - Deputy Head of Vinh Long Provincial Agricultural Project Management Board - said that the project is being built in People's Self-Management Group No. 6, Chau Thanh hamlet, Giao Long commune, with a riverbank protection embankment line about 40m long and reinforced embankment about 140m.

The project started on May 5th and according to the plan, it will be completed before August 3rd. To date, the project has reached about 30% of the contract volume. The investor is coordinating with the construction unit to remove difficulties and accelerate progress to complete soon.

According to Mr. Truyen, if weather conditions continue to be favorable, the project can be completed about 15 days earlier than planned. The project is expected to soon be effective, protecting the Giao Hoa riverbank and contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
