The joy of farmers in Tra Vinh
According to the reporter's records, at the construction site of the Tra Vinh province freshwater reservoir infrastructure project, workers are urgently constructing to complete the project on schedule.
Not happy that the locality is about to have a freshwater reservoir, Ms. Tran Thi Nhat in Cang Long district, Tra Vinh province said that this project brings great hope to local people, having a source of fresh water will help farmers protect their crops and avoid damage caused by salinity intrusion.
According to Ms. Nhat, in the past, in the dry season, when the water was salty, the trees died, or the productivity was low, the quality of the fruit was not as good as the large quantity.
"I hope the Tra Vinh freshwater reservoir infrastructure project will be completed on schedule, so that local people can soon have stable freshwater use, ensuring both plant varieties and household activities," Ms. Nhat added.
Sharing the same joy, Ms. Le Thi Lung in Cang Long district, Tra Vinh province said that the Freshwater Infrastructure Project is about to be completed and she is very happy. She looks forward to having a source of fresh water every day in the dry season.
According to Ms. Lung, every time there is a shortage of fresh water, her family always has to save a little bit from watering the plants to using them in daily life, which is very difficult and greatly affects her family's life.
"I hope the project will be completed soon so that fresh water can be used stably, improving life because there is a source of fresh water throughout the year, bringing high productivity in agriculture," Ms. Lung added.
Expected to be completed in April 2026
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Lam Hoang Vu - Investor in the construction of freshwater reservoir infrastructure in Tra Vinh province said that the Tra Vinh freshwater reservoir infrastructure construction project, which has been implemented since October 2024, has now been completed 23%.
According to Mr. Vu, the project is being implemented on schedule and promises to be an important solution in providing stable fresh water for Tra Vinh people, contributing to solving urgent problems with clean water during the dry season.
This project not only helps solve the problem of saline intrusion, protect domestic water resources, but also supports sustainable agricultural production, especially for areas specializing in rice and fruit growing.
Ensuring a stable source of fresh water will help people minimize damage caused by climate change and prolonged drought.
This is a key project to celebrate the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Congress, so the investor will continue to urge contractors to speed up the construction progress to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
"The project will also facilitate the socio-economic development of the province, improve the quality of life of the people and contribute to the sustainable development of Tra Vinh in the future," Mr. Vu added.
The total investment capital of the project is more than 1,300 billion VND, of which the provincial budget is over 1,189 billion VND, the rest is the central budget capital of more than 141 billion VND. The implementation period is 600 days (expected to be completed in April 2026).
