According to many people in Ben Tre City (Ben Tre Province), the Vietnam Urban Upgrading and Expansion Project - Ben Tre City Sub-project has contributed to improving the quality of life for local residents.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (residing in Phu Khuong Ward, Ben Tre City) said that in the past, it was difficult to do any business because traveling was not as convenient as it is now. Family life was always in a state of lack of money. Since the East-West road was invested in, everyone in the village has breathed a sigh of relief because they no longer have to endure the muddy conditions like before.

According to Mr. Hai, the road to his house used to be very difficult and muddy. Since the government invested in the project, the people here have not only benefited spiritually but also economically. People not only have easy access to travel but also have the opportunity to expand their business, trade and make profits right at home... from there, people's lives have improved.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh (residing in Phu Tan ward, Ben Tre city) said: “I see that not only in Phu Tan ward, but also in the places where the project passes through, it brings positive changes to the urban appearance and the lives of people in Ben Tre city. Especially the areas that were previously underdeveloped, with year-round environmental pollution, have now become vibrant areas with green - clean - beautiful environmental landscapes.

Recently, local people have been very excited and agreed to join hands in implementing the project so that it can be completed on schedule and according to the set requirements.

Project is almost finished

Mr. Le Xuan Truong Giang - Director of the Ben Tre City Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the Vietnam Urban Upgrading and Expansion Project - Ben Tre City Sub-project has a total investment of more than 1,481 billion VND. The project is divided into 4 component projects including: Level 3 infrastructure upgrading project in low-income areas, Priority level 1 and level 2 infrastructure project, Resettlement project and Project implementation support and technical assistance project.

“Up to now, the upgrading project of LIA 2 area (Ward 6), the upgrading project of LIA 6 area (Ward 8) and the construction project of LIA 1 area (Ward 5) and LIA 7 area (Phu Khuong ward) have all been completed and put into use.

In addition, the renovation project of Canal 30/4 and the renovation project of Canal Chin Te have completed 100% of the construction volume. Currently, the procedures are being completed, and the two projects are being cleaned up for acceptance and handover for use," said Mr. Giang.

According to Mr. Giang, the East-West Highway construction project has reached 99% completion. Contractors are completing procedures and cleaning the entire project for acceptance and handover for use.

The Director of the Ben Tre City Construction Investment Project Management Board also informed that the number of households affected by the project is very large. However, when seeing the benefits when this project is completed, the people are very supportive.
