Southern region forecast to receive heavy rain, some days with rain from morning

HẠ MÂY |

On October 3, the Southern region officially experienced widespread rain that will last for many days to come.

Convective clouds are currently developing in the provinces of Kien Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang and Can Tho. The cloud nests tend to move less but will expand.

From now until the next 4 hours, this convective cloud area will cause showers and thunderstorms in the above mentioned area and surrounding areas. Some places will have rain with an amount of about 30mm/2h. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

The cause of thunderstorms is due to the stable cold continental high pressure gradually weakening in intensity. The low pressure trough with its axis through the Central region is compressed, weakened and gradually filled up. Above, the subtropical high pressure branch in the South weakens. Disturbances above operate better, dominating the South.

Regarding high tides, water levels at stations downstream of the Saigon - Dong Nai river system have risen rapidly in the past 24 hours. Water levels at stations downstream of the Saigon - Dong Nai river will continue to rise for another 2-3 days, then fall again. The highest peak tide during this period is likely to occur on October 4-5 (ie September 2-3 of the lunar calendar).

In the coming days, the continental cold high pressure will weaken and move east, around October 6-7, and will weaken again. From October 6-7, the equatorial low pressure trough will gradually lift its axis northward through the South and South Central regions.

Above, the subtropical high pressure tends to lift its axis to the North, the disturbances above are active again, affecting the weather in the South. In the sea areas of the South, the wind is from the east to the northeast with weak to moderate intensity.

Therefore, from October 3-5, the Southern region will have cloudy skies and widespread rain with the possibility of rain in the early morning due to the impact of low-level easterly wind disturbances and weak to moderate northeasterly winds.

From October 6-10, the area should have cloudy weather with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
