At the end of October, Ho Chi Minh City officially put into operation the parallel road on the right side of Vo Nguyen Giap Street, a nearly 800m long section from Phuoc Long ICD Port to Tay Hoa intersection. This is an item of the Hanoi Highway expansion project, invested by Hanoi Highway Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company.
The use of the above road section helps vehicles move more conveniently, no longer having to go around Nam Hoa Street and return to Vo Nguyen Giap Street as before.
According to records, after the fence near Phuoc Long metro station was dismantled, traffic on the Vo Nguyen Giap axis has become much more open. The parallel route opening not only reduces pressure on the main Vo Nguyen Giap route, but also contributes to relieving congestion at hot spots such as Nam Hoa - Tay Hoa and Binh Thai intersection, which are often congested during rush hour.

Ms. My Quynh, a resident of Phuoc Long ward, shared: Before, every time we went to work, we had to go around Nam Hoa, which was both time-consuming and easy to get stuck. Now the parallel route is open, going straight in one circuit, much faster and safer".
A representative of Hanoi Highway Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company said that this route has been completed for nearly two years, but it will take until synchronous infrastructure conditions are allowed to operate. After the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction approved the acceptance results, the unit coordinated with the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center to complete the signal system and traffic organization plan.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the Vo Nguyen Giap parallel route is an important project in the transport network of the East, increasing the connectivity between Phuoc Long - Tay Hoa - Vo Nguyen Giap port area, better serving the needs of travel and freight transportation.
