According to Lao Dong, at nearly 7 p.m., many major roads in Ho Chi Minh City were deeply flooded , making it difficult for people to move around.
On National Highway 1K, bordering Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong, the water was more than 200m deep. Many drivers had to stop their cars on the road, for fear of stalling and causing traffic jams.
By nearly 7 p.m., the area still showed no signs of cooling down. Vehicles had to move slowly in the “sea of water.”
Mr. Hoang Hai (residing in Thu Duc City) said: “The rain was very heavy and prolonged, I had to pull over to the sidewalk to avoid the rain, otherwise the engine would have turned off. With this kind of rain, we can’t have fun anywhere.”

The roads around Thu Duc market such as Duong Van Cam, Dang Thi Ranh, Ho Van Tu "turned" into a sea of water.
In particular, severe flooding occurred on Duong Van Cam Street, with water deep, some sections nearly a meter deep. Therefore, vehicles entering here stalled and had to be pushed.

On Quoc Huong Street (Thao Dien Ward, Thu Duc City), water was up to half a wheel for a long stretch. The deep water caused not only motorbikes but also cars to stall.
Thao Dien Ward is known as the “rich” street in Ho Chi Minh City because it has many villas and foreigners living there. However, the outdated drainage system has not been invested in, causing the area to often flood during heavy rains.

Flooding also occurred on roads in Thu Duc City such as Linh Trung, La Xuan Oai, Le Van Viet, Do Xuan Hop...
In Go Vap district, roads such as Pham Van Chieu, Le Van Tho, Nguyen Van Khoi… were deeply flooded. Many motorbike drivers passing through these roads had their engines stall.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, many areas in Ho Chi Minh City have thunderstorms developing, causing showers and spreading throughout the city. Meanwhile, thunderstorms also spread across the Southeast and Western provinces, causing heavy rain. Rainfall in most provinces and cities was over 20-50mm, with some places over 100mm.
