Quang Tri - Except for Con Co island district, other localities have dengue fever cases and complicated developments.

On October 9, information from the People's Committee of Cam Lo district (Quang Tri province) said that the dengue fever situation in Cam Lo town is increasing rapidly and becoming more complicated. As of 10:00 a.m. on October 7, the entire district recorded 9 dengue fever outbreaks, with 4/9 outbreaks being active.

The total number of dengue fever cases in Cam Lo district from the beginning of 2024 to October 7 was 148 cases in 8/8 communes and towns. Continuously in September and early October, there were 26 cases of dengue fever hospitalized with 2 outbreaks.

The reason for the complicated dengue fever in Cam Lo district is that many households have the habit of growing ornamental plants, storing rainwater, and often using chicken feeding utensils that contain stagnant water, and do not pay attention to the work of killing mosquito larvae. In addition, the weather is changing complicatedly, increasing the risk of new outbreaks.

“The risk of additional outbreaks and widespread dengue fever outbreaks in Cam Lo town is very high if there are no proactive, drastic and positive intervention measures,” informed Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bac - Vice Chairman of Cam Lo District People's Committee, Head of Cam Lo District People's Health Care Committee.

Mr. Do Van Hung - Director of the Department of Health of Quang Tri province confirmed that from the beginning of 2024 to October 2, there were 954 cases of dengue fever in Quang Tri province. Among them, there were imported cases with an epidemiological history returning from abroad. The number of dengue fever cases increased sharply from around July 2024 to present. The locality with the most dengue fever cases is Vinh Linh district, followed by Cam Lo district and Huong Hoa district.

Currently, the Department of Health of Quang Tri province has directed relevant units to strengthen the synchronous implementation of solutions on monitoring, detecting and managing disease cases, diagnosing and treating, and preventing mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever.
