On the morning of February 14, many workers gathered at the area where the contractor was constructing the Chieng Khoong Primary - Secondary Inter-level Boarding School Project (Chieng Khoong commune, Son La) to wait for payment of wages.


Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Dong - Chairman of Chieng Khoong Commune People's Committee said that from February 13, many local workers have gathered in large numbers at the construction site area to wait for payment. However, up to now, nearly 200 people have not received money.
According to the commune government, each worker still has about 20 working days that have not been paid. On February 13, the unit paid about 40 workers, but the remaining workers are still waiting from morning. This is the main source of income for many households during the Tet holiday.
At the contractor area, Mr. Tong Van Kien said that his family still has about 20 working days left. "The leasing unit promised to pay in the early afternoon. But every time they ask, they say differently. The brothers are still waiting, hoping to be paid as announced so they can worry about Tet," Mr. Kien said.
It is known that H.H unit hired local workers to construct the rough construction of the project, including foundation pouring, column erection and fence construction. The main labor force is people from the Song Ma area, in addition, some come from the Sop Cop area.

Leaders of Chieng Khoong commune said they are continuing to grasp the situation, and at the same time requested the construction unit to soon pay wages to workers as committed.
The Chieng Khoong Inter-level Primary - Secondary Boarding School project has a total investment of 258 billion VND, built in the area of Bua village and Tan Lap village, with a total expected area of nearly 5ha, with a scale of receiving nearly 1,000 students.
The project includes many items such as: classroom building block, subject classrooms, library, school board house; boarding house area, official residence; student kitchen, multi-purpose house, outdoor sports field and other auxiliary items... to meet the requirements of teaching, learning and physical training for students.
The project is constructed by the Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation, with the goal of striving to complete it before July 30, 2026.
