Urgently repair the monopoly to a mountainous commune in Phu Tho that was hit by landslides

Phu Tho - The road to the highland commune of Phu Tho province was seriously eroded due to floods, forcing people to take a detour.

During the flood in September-October 2025, at Km 24+800 of Provincial Road 433 (suoi Lao peak area, Cao Son commune), there were serious landslides.

Recorded in the last days of November, tens of thousands of cubic meters of positive slope land have collapsed in this area, covering about 30m of road surface.

The incident paralyzed route 433 leading to mountainous communes such as Cao Son, Tan Pheo, Quy Duc and Duc Nhan commune, causing traffic congestion.

People have to open temporary roads along slippery hillsides and steep slopes for traffic, but they can only walk or ride motorbikes. For cars, they have to take a narrow, winding road, dangerous curves through the villages of Cao Son commune.

Mr. Ha Van Chien (34 years old, residing in Hoa Binh commune) driving a truck to trade goods said: "Since the road was eroded, travel has been almost disrupted, goods brought to the highland communes have been charged more, travel time is longer. Hopefully the road will be fixed soon".

Ms. Bui Thi Dien (40 years old, Tan Pheo commune) shared that every time she passes through a landslide, she has to park her motorbike and walk along the mountain slope. On rainy days, the mud is slippery, many places only have one foot. Selling agricultural products is also difficult because traders are afraid to enter.

On November 27, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Tien Tan - Head of the Economic Department of Cao Son Commune - informed that in the face of the urgent situation, the Cao Son Commune government has set up checkpoints to block the road, put up warning signs and instruct people to take the road to avoid them to ensure safety. Currently, the Department of Construction has begun to implement repairs and repair.

Video recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at the landslide site.

Mr. Dang Trung Kien - representative of the Phu Tho Traffic Construction and Maintenance Project Management Board - said that Phu Tho province has invested nearly 9 billion VND to fix 18 landslides (including landslides at Km 24+800) due to the impact of storms and floods on the entire Provincial Road 433.

"Contractors are rushing to carry out construction at landslide locations, thereby ensuring traffic for people and vehicles" - Mr. Kien shared.

It is known that Provincial Road 433 is a vital route connecting Hoa Binh Commune to highland communes such as Da Bac, Cao Son, Tan Pheo, Duc Nhan... Not only serving travel, this is also a route for trading agricultural products and goods, opening up opportunities for tourism development in the entire large area.

According to the assessment of specialized agencies, due to weak geological characteristics, complex terrain, and mountain-side roads, the risk of landslides on the route always exists. Every time a storm comes, many new points can experience landslides, threatening the safety of people and vehicles, even on good roads.
