On January 3, the leader of Binh Dinh General Hospital confirmed that the hospital had asked the police to investigate the subject impersonating the hospital's Deputy Director to commit fraud.
"This subject appeared in the hospital twice, impersonating hospital leaders and doctors to defraud and appropriate money from patients' families," he said.
According to initial information, on the afternoon of January 1, 2025, a man wearing a mask entered the patient's room of the Geriatric Department without permission, claiming to be the Deputy Director of Binh Dinh General Hospital, then asked the patient's family to give him money for IV fluids, blood transfusions, and supplements. With this trick, a patient's family member was scammed out of 1 million VND.
Previously, on December 23, 2024, this subject also entered the Geriatrics department, impersonating a doctor to defraud patients and their families, but was unsuccessful.
According to the leader of Binh Dinh General Hospital, near Tet, hospitals are places that scammers often target to commit theft and fraud.
"Along with reporting to the police, the hospital has strengthened security forces and notified relatives and patients to be vigilant against fraudulent behavior," he said.
The hospital recommends that patients and their families should contact the responsible medical staff or the hospital security team directly in case of any suspicious situation.
