On November 29, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan inspected the work of overcoming the consequences of storms and floods and resettlement (TDC) for people in disaster areas in Tuy Phuoc Dong, Tuy Phuoc, Tuy Phuoc Tay communes and Quy Nhon Dong and Quy Nhon Bac wards. These are 5 localities that suffered heavy damage in the last 2 historic storms and floods.
Along with support resources from the Central Government and the province, these localities are focusing on overcoming damage caused by storms and floods, quickly restoring production. At the same time, develop resettlement plans in dangerous areas to ensure people's lives are stable and safe.

Currently, Tuy Phuoc Dong commune has planned to arrange resettlement for more than 800 households in An Loi, Lac Dien and Dong Dien villages in resettlement areas in the area with an area of over 20 hectares.
Tuy Phuoc commune plans to arrange resettlement for about 300 households in the resettlement area for people in the disaster area of nearly 7 hectares in Tan Thuan village. Tuy Phuoc Tay commune will relocate 40 households in vulnerable areas to a resettlement area of about 2 hectares in Ngoc Thanh 1 village...

Through on-site inspection, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested localities to review the planning, speed up the progress of population stabilization, build resettlement projects and deploy interspersed population arrangement plans to relocate households out of disaster areas.
"Households with houses outside the danger zone but collapsed due to storms and floods will be supported to rebuild houses according to the province's policy. Cases in vulnerable areas, directly affected by natural disasters that are forced to relocate, will be arranged to build new houses in resettlement areas," Mr. Tuan directed.
The Chairman of Gia Lai province requested localities to flexibly implement, target the right subjects, publicize and be transparent with support policies to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
Inspecting the dykes, Mr. Tuan emphasized that the dykes system plays a particularly important role in natural disaster prevention and protection of people's lives and property.

He requested departments, branches and localities to review, resolutely handle and clear construction works encroaching on dyke protection corridors, while preventing the emergence of new violations.
On the same day, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee visited, presented gifts and encouraged families affected by storms and floods. Mr. Tuan said that in addition to the support of the Central Government, the province also has a policy to support households with collapsed or damaged houses so that people can soon stabilize their lives.
The province decided to support 60 million VND/household for completely collapsed houses; 5 million VND/household for completely blown-off houses; 2 million VND/household for partially damaged houses.
Poor, near-poor and households in especially difficult circumstances whose houses are flooded will also receive support of 2 million VND/household/month, for 3 months.
