Quang Phu commune is still a difficult area, people's lives mainly depend on agriculture, so their income is still low. In particular, there are many villages and hamlets in ethnic minority areas with special difficulties.
Ethnic minorities account for a large proportion, many outdated customs and practices still exist, affecting socio-economic development.
In that context, prestigious people become an important spiritual support for the community. Mr. Y Wang (born in 1966, a prestigious person in Phu Xuan village) is one of the typical faces.
Understanding the customs and lives of his people, he understood that he could not let people maintain their old ways of life, which easily delayed development.
Therefore, he spent time going to each house to encourage young people to limit alcohol, work hard, and aim for a disciplined and goalful life. Not only that, he especially encourages children to study well to open up a better future.

To escape poverty, first of all, families must love each other, eliminate bad customs, and maintain cultural discipline. When their children are old enough to go to school, they have to let them study until the end of grade 12. After that, they learn a trade, go to university, join the army... and have maturity".
These rustic yet convincing words have touched many young families.
Mr. Y Tho (born in 1995, residing in Phu Xuan village) is one of the cases in which Mr. Y Wang encouraged his children to persevere in going to school.
Although he is a poor household and raises 4 young children, he still tries not to let them drop out of school. Mr. Y Tho understands that sending children to school is an important thing to help them have more foundation to step out into the world.
At village meetings, Mr. Y Wang and other prestigious people persistently advise and encourage families to strive to rise up.
Their exemplary behavior has created a clear influence: Security and order are maintained, people's lives are better, many spacious houses are built, more motorbikes are appearing, children can go to school more fully than 5 years ago.
These positive changes show the important role of prestigious people - those who "listen to the people, make the people believe", contributing to the formation of a new civilized and modern lifestyle for the villagers.
Strongly promoting the role of prestigious people in the new period
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Quang Phu commune, the whole commune currently has dozens of prestigious people working in villages, hamlets of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas.
When the government system is organized according to a streamlined and efficient model, the role of this team becomes more important than ever.
In recent years, village heads, village elders and prestigious people have actively participated in implementing the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021-2025.
They are considered the " Atony" in mobilizing people to abandon bad customs, apply science and technology to production, change perception and build a civilized lifestyle.
Mr. Cao Ba Hoang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Phu commune, affirmed: "Preditable people play a particularly important role in local socio-economic development.
They are people trusted by the people, their words have weight, so the government can help them spread policies and guidelines to ethnic minorities effectively".
He said that the local government hopes that this team will continue to promote a sense of responsibility, experience and understanding of customs and practices in the coming time.
Prestigious people will accompany the government in sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction and development of ethnic minority areas, contributing to the implementation of the major goals set by the Central Government.
