Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Nguyen Thuy Quynh (2nd year student, Women's Academy) said that recently, the price of rented accommodation in Hanoi has been continuously increasing. Therefore, she is looking for a part-time job to cover some of her living expenses.
"Students' part-time jobs are usually calculated by shift, around 20,000-25,000 VND/hour. Although the income is not high, this is a part-time job that I can do at the moment to reduce the financial burden and pay for rent while living and studying in Hanoi" - Quynh said.
Similarly, Nguyen Thi Thuong (3rd year student at Hanoi University) confided that when the price of rented accommodation suddenly increased, many students like her often chose part-time jobs at supermarkets, beverage shops, fashion stores, and fanpage management to increase their income.
Thuong added that the current cost of renting a basic apartment, not including furniture, electricity, water and service fees, ranges from 2.5 to 5 million VND/month.

A survey by Batdongsan.com.vn shows that from the beginning of 2024 until now, many landlords have increased rental prices by 10-15%, concentrated in central districts of Hanoi such as Cau Giay, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan...
Mr. Nguyen The Diep - Vice President of Hanoi Real Estate Club - commented that, according to tradition, the end of July and beginning of August every year is the time when new students enroll and return to school, a large number of students flock to the capital, causing a shortage of rental rooms.
In addition, recently, many landlords have invested in and equipped with more convenient furniture to attract tenants, causing rents to suddenly increase.
To reduce the pressure on the boarding house, experts say that social housing is considered an effective solution, helping workers rent at low cost, with full facilities and ensuring safety and security. Because the target groups of the two segments above are mainly workers from other provinces, young couples, students, and recent graduates.
Notably, when the Housing Law comes into effect, it will resolve bottlenecks and encourage the development of social housing, thereby reducing rental housing prices to a more suitable level for people. Therefore, it is necessary to boost the supply of social housing for purchase and rent by increasing interest rate and tax incentives.
As Lao Dong reports, Hanoi's rental prices tend to increase as the new school year prepares to begin.
While budget motels tend to increase prices by 300-500 thousand VND/month, many closed motels even increase prices by 1-1.2 million VND/month.
