On May 15, the Cha Lo International Border Gate Customs Branch (Minh Hoa District, Quang Binh Province) said that vehicles from the Vietnamese side this morning have been cleared and moved through Laos.
Since this morning, the authorities have coordinated and guided the vehicles that were congested at Cha Lo International Border Gate to move to Laos to continue their journey. The congestion of the past day has been relieved.
Information from the Cha Lo International Border Gate Customs Branch, on the Lao side, is still overcoming the damage to the road due to heavy rain in the past.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, since the morning of May 14, hundreds of vehicles including container trucks, trucks and cars have been stuck on National Highway 12A, near Cha Lo Border Gate. The goods are nearly 2km long, causing customs clearance activities to be almost paralyzed during the day.
The main cause was determined to be due to the road from Naphao Border Gate to Laos' inland being seriously degraded, with many sections peeling and muddy.
The prolonged traffic jam has affected many drivers, disrupting the supply chain of goods. Cha Lo International Border Gate is an important transit point between Vietnam, Laos and Thailand with hundreds of vehicles passing through every day.
