Hanoi will develop bus routes on the basis of BRT fast bus routes

SÓNG HỮU |

In the 2030-2035 period, Hanoi will develop bus routes on the BRT express bus route and urban railway, attracting people to use public transport.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen has just signed and issued a Plan on the implementation of the "Project to evaluate the overall bus network as a basis for proposing solutions to adjust and improve the quality of services and public passenger transport output in the city", specifically:

Solutions on building and perfecting mechanisms and policies

Develop a Resolution of the City People's Council "amending and supplementing Point c, Clause 4, Article 2 of Resolution No. 07/2019 of the City People's Council on prioritizing the development of large-volume public passenger transport systems; encouraging investment in the construction and exploitation of bus stations, parking lots and other motor vehicles; applying high technology in the management and operation of the transport system".

Solutions on adjusting and rationalizing the route network to increase connectivity and passenger transit between the public passenger transport system by bus and urban railway lines

Coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, wards and related units to review, adjust and expand bus service areas to areas without buses, areas with high demand (urban areas, shopping malls, schools, hospitals, railway stations, bus stations, etc.).

Solutions for developing the bus route network

2025-2030 period:

Focus on developing bus routes using electricity, green energy connecting to urban railway routes, areas without buses, new urban areas, national exhibition centers, museums.

Phase 2031-2035:

Develop a bus route connecting directly from the center of satellite cities to transit points in the belt area of the central urban area. In satellite urban areas, develop bus routes, urban connections to scenic spots, historical and cultural relics of the locality

Develop bus routes on the basis of BRT express bus routes, urban railways according to the transportation planning, gradually forming the need to use public transport of the people.

Develop bus routes connecting to urban areas, entertainment centers, newly formed agency areas according to future planning (central agencies in Tay Ho Tay area, Kim Quy Park, Ngoc Trai Theater...).

Solutions for bus infrastructure

Review and rationalize all bus stops in terms of distance and location suitability so that passengers can easily access the route network and ensure network connectivity. Arrange bus stops in the direction of integrating access to urban railway stations, vehicle parking lots, connecting with other types of public transport: taxis, public bicycles... Complete information, encrypt bus stops for management and access information on Busmap software.

Review, research investment in renovating the existing system of terminals and transit points and invest in additional new development points in a synchronous direction of image, friendliness and convenience for passengers. Multi-modal connection to be able to park and travel by many different public transport vehicles; Rearrange bus stops along the corridors of urban railway lines 2A, 3 and BRT express bus routes.

Implement the Investment Project to build a bus shelter system for the period 2026-2028. The study prioritizes the selection of waiting rooms located in tourist areas, tourist attractions or near transit areas with many tourists. Add QR codes for direction information at waiting rooms to inform about bus routes, integrate AI and chatbox applications...

Along with that are solutions to identify the brand of the capital's buses; solutions to improve the quality of human resources and apply technology in management and operation.
