On the afternoon of September 9, a representative of Dong Bai - Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal said that the ferry route connecting Cat Hai Island with Cat Ba Island will officially resume operation at 12 p.m on the same day. On September 9, ferry passengers will be exempted from the fee.
“In the first trips, the unit mobilized two large ferries to take passengers from Cat Hai Island to Cat Ba Island and vice versa. After that, depending on the actual situation and the needs of passengers, other ferries will be mobilized,” said a representative of this ferry terminal.
Previously, following the direction of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, from 11:00 on September 6, the Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry route was temporarily suspended. At that time, there were 181 tourists, including 104 international tourists and 77 domestic tourists stranded on Cat Ba Island.
Cat Ba is also one of the areas most severely affected by storm No. 3. As of noon on September 9, people in many places on the island still had no electricity, water, or telecommunications signals. More than 100 aquaculture facilities in the bays of Cat Ba archipelago were devastated.
Currently, Hai Phong City authorities are urgently working with Cat Hai district to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.
