HCMC - Binh Thanh District proposed to merge 15 existing wards to 5 wards and Phu Nhuan District proposed to merge from 11 wards to 3 wards.

The People's Committees of Phu Nhuan and Binh Thanh districts have just submitted to the People's Committees of Ho Chi Minh City a plan to reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a model of organizing local government at 2 levels.

Phu Nhuan District: From 11 wards to 3 wards

According to the submission of Phu Nhuan District People's Committee, this locality currently has 11 wards including: wards 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15.

Phu Nhuan District proposed a plan to merge and rearrange wards into 3 new wards, including:

Duc Nhuan Ward: formed from the merger of Wards 4, 5 and 9. The new ward has an area of about 2km2, with a population of about 73,500 people.

Cau Kieu Ward: merges wards 1, 2, 7 and part of ward 15, with an area of about 1.2km2 and a population of about 74,000 people.

Phu Nhuan Ward: merged wards 8, 10, 11, 13 and the rest of Ward 15, area of about 1.4km2, population of about 68,700 people.

Binh Thanh District: 15 existing wards will have 5 wards left

Along with Phu Nhuan, Binh Thanh District has also submitted a plan to rearrange 15 existing wards into 5 new wards.

Gia Dinh Ward: merging wards 1, 2, 7 and 17.

Binh Thanh Ward: merging wards 12, 14 and 26.

Binh Hoa Ward: merging wards 5, 11 and 13.

Thanh My Tay Ward: merging wards 19, 22 and 25.

Binh Quoi Ward: merging Wards 27 and 28.
