Thousands of young people in Ho Chi Minh City eagerly join the army

HCMC - On the morning of February 13, thousands of young people in HCMC who were recruited for military service in 2025 left for the army.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will organize a military enlistment ceremony for 4,987 citizens (of which 4,000 citizens will serve in the military and 987 citizens will serve in the People's Public Security). The Military Region will assign the City to select 3 female citizens.

The military handover ceremony was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, and a number of leaders of departments, branches, districts, and armed forces of the city.

Acting Chairman of District 7 People's Committee Chau Xuan Dai Thang congratulated the new recruits who passed the selection and left for the army on this occasion. This year, District 7 has 179 outstanding young people leaving to fulfill their sacred duty to the Fatherland, of which 143 young people perform military service and 36 young people perform their duty to join the People's Public Security.

“I believe that young people will promote the traditions of their homeland, the glorious traditions of previous generations, promote the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the People's Public Security, strive in all aspects, study hard, practice, and strictly follow discipline to excellently complete all assigned tasks,” Mr. Thang emphasized.

New recruit Nguyen Le Giao, residing in Tan Phong ward (District 7) shared: "When joining the army, I will be determined to study, train, and strive to excellently complete the assigned tasks, not afraid of hardship, not afraid of difficulties, always worthy of the trust and love of my family, local authorities, and promote the good traditions of the army."

New recruit Pham Vo Quoc Khanh promised to fulfill his responsibilities well, quickly integrate into the military environment, overcome all difficulties, strive to study and train well, participate in building an increasingly powerful army and reap many achievements during his service, not letting down the trust of local leaders and his family.

In 2025, the number of party members receiving orders to join the army was 110; the number of intermediate, college and university graduates was quite high at 1,902 citizens (47.51%). The number of citizens with health class 1 and 2 was 3,358 citizens (83.89%).

The highlight of 2025 is that the number of citizens volunteering to join the army reached 2,049 citizens (reaching 51.19% of the target).
