The My Thuy intersection construction project (Thu Duc City) started in 2016 with a total investment of VND1,998 billion and by 2022, this project was adjusted to increase to more than VND3,600 billion.
The My Thuy intersection construction project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. According to the plan, this project has a scale of 3 floors, in phase 1, large items such as underpass, overpass, My Thuy 3 bridge, Ky Ha 3 bridge have been completed. However, due to lack of land, the project was temporarily suspended and it was not until April 2024 that the project was restarted.
According to Lao Dong at My Thuy intersection (Thu Duc City), the number of vehicles passing through is very large. This is a traffic hot spot connecting Cat Lai port, so during peak hours, traffic becomes complicated and conflicts easily occur.

At the My Thuy intersection project area, many items are being implemented to continue to be completed, however, the progress is not guaranteed. It is noted that the construction area of Ky Ha 4 bridge started in April 2024, the right turn from Ring Road 2 ( Vo Chi Cong) to Nguyen Thi Dinh, and is currently under construction at a slow pace.
Along with that, the construction package for the left overpass from Cat Lai to Phu My bridge also started on January 18, but had to be temporarily suspended due to lack of land. Up to now, only two bored piles have been deployed, with no workers at the construction site.
The project's delay has caused traffic pressure here to increase, greatly affecting traffic and people's lives.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, many items at My Thuy intersection are temporarily suspended due to land clearance problems. The two packages for the construction of branches on the left and right banks of My Thuy canals have only reached the progress of 15% and 50% respectively, but have been forced to stop. Similarly, Ky Ha 4 Bridge and the branch from Phu My Bridge to Cat Lai, which started construction in April 2024, have only reached 15% and have been temporarily suspended due to lack of land.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the site clearance was carried out by the Thu Duc City People's Committee in 2016 with a budget of VND1,190 billion, but by January 2025, only 9/195 cases had been handed over. The slow progress has forced the project's completion date to be postponed from the end of 2025 to April 2026.
To ensure progress, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board proposed that Thu Duc City soon hand over the construction site of Ky Ha 4 Bridge and Cat Lai Overpass in February 2025, and complete the entire project before March 31, 2025 to ensure project progress.
A representative of the Thu Duc City Compensation and Site Clearance Board said that Thu Duc City is currently reviewing the cases and carrying out procedures to promptly hand over the site to the investor. It is expected that the site will be handed over to the investor in the first quarter of 2025.

My Thuy intersection has an important traffic location and is the main route of Thu Duc City, connecting the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City and Cat Lai ferry. This area is one of the black spots of traffic congestion that has lasted for many years in Ho Chi Minh City.
Therefore, the My Thuy intersection construction project, once completed, is expected to solve huge traffic pressure at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
