Agriculture as the foundation of development
Tuy Duc is a border district, with an area of over 111,924 hectares and a population of 67,100 people, home to 23 ethnic groups. Of which, ethnic minorities account for more than 40%. The labor structure is mainly concentrated in agriculture, forestry and fishery (75%).
Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021 - 2025 period, Tuy Duc district has achieved remarkable achievements, creating a premise for a long-term and sustainable development journey.
In 2024, Tuy Duc district achieved remarkable results in poverty reduction.
Up to now, the whole district still has 1,699 poor households, accounting for 9.94%; a decrease of 1,432 households, accounting for 8.84% compared to 2023. Of which, 1,292 ethnic minority households, accounting for 18.67%. There are 663 local ethnic minority households, accounting for 18.94%...
These achievements are clear evidence of the effectiveness of poverty reduction policies in all aspects at the local level.
In particular, Tuy Duc district has strengthened coordination with organizations and enterprises to expand collective economic models, cooperatives and production linkages according to value chains.
In addition to material support, the locality also focuses on implementing vocational training programs, improving production skills and providing appropriate production tools.
For example, the family of Ly Van Chien (37 years old, living in Quang Tam commune) shared that his life was once associated with hard days. With a few acres of coffee, his family struggled to make a living. There were even times when the family had to work hard to earn a living.
In addition to working on the farm, he also does many jobs to make ends meet, from construction worker, house builder to gardener...
However, a turning point came when he was supported by the local government and given the opportunity to attend a free welding course.
Thanks to his diligence and hard work, he quickly mastered basic skills and obtained a vocational certificate.
With his skillful hands, he received many jobs such as welding doors, fences, even roofs... From then on, his life gradually became more stable.
"In the past, I had a very hard life. But now, thanks to welding, my life has changed. I feel grateful for the opportunities that the government has brought me," Chien shared.
Create a solid foundation for people to develop
Although it is a border district, up to now, the infrastructure system in Tuy Duc district has been increasingly completed and synchronized.
The well-invested traffic works, irrigation works, schools, and cultural houses open up comprehensive development opportunities for local people. These are also solid steps, helping Tuy Duc border district build the foundation for a sustainable development future.
Mr. Nguyen Van Anh - Vice Chairman of Tuy Duc District People's Committee - said: "We focus on building practical support programs, focusing on border areas and especially disadvantaged villages.
The district's goal is not only to help people escape poverty but also to create a solid foundation for them to develop the economy sustainably, increase income and improve their lives.
Sustainable poverty reduction is not just about financial support, but also about giving people the tools and knowledge to improve their lives.
According to Mr. Anh, to realize this goal, the district government has synchronously implemented many support solutions. Programs such as vocational training, transfer of production techniques, provision of high-quality plant and animal breeds, preferential loans... have been widely implemented.
The district also promotes investment in essential infrastructure in disadvantaged areas, from building roads, irrigation systems to supporting household electricity.
