The 2-storey house is located in Nghia Trung commune (Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province) in the site clearance area of the 500kV line 3 project from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen), the section passing through Nam Dinh province.
The original owner of this house was Mr. Dung, a resident of Nghia Trung Commune (Nghia Hung District), and was later bought by Mr. Nguyen Van Thue from the same commune. To keep the structure of the house intact, Mr. Thue hired a "genie" to move it from its old location and return the land to carry out the project.
Normally, a team to move a house will have about 6 people, sometimes up to 15 people, often called "genie". Depending on the load and structure of the house, there will be an equivalent number of people and jacking equipment.
On October 15, according to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter, the 2-story house weighing 500 tons was moved by the genie and rotated 180 degrees to a new location.
"After more than 4 months of implementation, the house with a floor area of 127m2, a 2-storey structure, weighing about 500 tons has been completely relocated to a new location. Currently, we are lifting 35 hydraulic jacks out, lowering the house about 50 - 60cm to complete the foundation", said Mr. Pham Phuoc Le (from Dong Thap), a member of the house relocation team.
The distance to move the house from position A to B is about 100m and rotates 180 degrees. Before moving, the "genie" must jack up the house and handle the support points, reinforce the foundation (also known as reinforcement), and cut each pillar. Then, jack up the house to reach a high enough height to install the moving equipment and hydraulic jack.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thue shared: "Due to the weather, the relocation progress was delayed compared to the expected schedule, but up to this point, I feel somewhat reassured because the house has been moved to a new safe location. I decided to relocate the house because to build a new house with the same area costs about 2 billion VND, while I hired a "genie" to relocate it for 600 million VND, including the cost of building the house foundation and other costs, I still saved a few hundred million VND".
