Using well water, river water
For many years, more than 180 households in Vinh Phong residential group (Nghen town) have had to suffer from storing rainwater and pumping river water for daily use.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai (Vinh Phong residential group) - said that her family dug a well for use but the water was contaminated with alum and salinity and could not be used. Therefore, for many years, her family has had to pump water from the river for daily use.
Many households far from the river, if they want to pump river water up for use, cannot have to ask for water from other households.
Mr. Ha Duy Khuong - Head of Vinh Phong residential group - said that in 2015, the clean water system was brought to the locality, but after only about a year of operation, the pipeline was damaged.
By 2022, the town will invest in another pipeline system but it is currently unable to use it.
In early 2023, the town continued to implement additional clean water supply projects for residential groups, but so far only pipes have been installed without water.
Similarly, in residential group K130 there is no clean water for use. Many households have to use water from village wells.
Mr. Pham Tien Than (70 years old, in residential group K130) shared that the village wells are not hygienic, and in the summer the village wells are dry, causing people to lack water for daily use.

Residential group K130 (Nhen town) currently has over 300 households. There is currently a water plant in the area that has been built for a long time, the water source from the plant is only enough to supply about 100 households.
However, this water source is not guaranteed, sometimes there is, sometimes there is no. Therefore, people here have to use pond, lake and river water for daily bathing and laundry, along with building rainwater storage tanks for eating and drinking.
Mr. Le Ba Bao - Secretary of the K130 Residential Group Party Cell said that the issue of clean water is currently very urgent for the people, especially in the early summer. To have domestic water, people have to find every way, from digging wells, collecting rainwater and pumping water from the river, but the water from these sources is not guaranteed.
Therefore, people are looking forward to the clean water project being completed soon to have clean water to use.
Clean water project is slow
According to the leader of Nghen Town People's Committee, the locality currently has 5 residential groups: K130, Vinh Phong, Hong Quang, Hong Ha, Son Thinh (formerly in Tien Loc commune, merged into Ngen Town in 2019) with more than 1,000 households not having clean water for use.
Faced with this situation, the town government has rebuilt the entire clean water supply system for people to use. In early 2023, the project was implemented with a capital of more than 13 billion VND from the local budget, but so far the project's construction volume has only reached more than 80%.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Son - Vice Chairman of Nghen Town People's Committee - said that the clean water supply project was delayed due to additional problems arising after implementation, which was that the entire main pipeline along National Highway 1A did not have a license from the Road Administration to carry out excavation and pipe installation.
In addition, the construction process has some routes that need to be adjusted and additional time is incurred. In addition, the local budget is still limited, so there is not enough capital allocated for the construction unit.
Up to now, the problems have been basically resolved. It is expected that in May 2025, the construction units will complete the construction. After that, the locality will work with Ha Tinh Water Supply Joint Stock Company to connect the pipeline to the clean water plant and provide water for people to use.
