The heavy rain lasted for nearly an hour, causing many roads in Go Vap, Binh Thanh, District 1... to be deeply flooded. Many vehicles had difficulty moving, many vehicles stalled in the middle of the road.
According to Lao Dong reporters, on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Hang Xanh Intersection to Highway 13, Binh Thanh District), the traffic jam lasted nearly 1km. People had to move little by little to move on this road.
In particular, at D5 road (intersection with Xo Viet Nghe Tinh and Nguyen Gia Tri streets, Binh Thanh district), the deep flooding lasted nearly 500m. The water was up to more than half of the wheel, making it difficult for vehicles to move.
Floodwaters prevented traffic from passing through D5 Street, so many people decided to turn into Alley 42, Ung Van Khiem Street (Binh Thanh District). However, Ung Van Khiem Street was also congested for a long time, so many vehicles in the alley had to stand still for nearly 30 minutes.
Mr. Pham The Hung (21 years old, living in Binh Thanh district) said that every day he finishes school at 4 pm, but because it was raining heavily today, he stayed behind, waited for the rain to stop and then went home. However, after the rain stopped, many vehicles moved on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street, making it difficult for Mr. Hung to move.
"I drove from District 1 to my house in Binh Thanh but it's been more than 2 hours and I still can't get home, while it normally only takes me about 30 minutes to travel. It takes about 30 minutes to travel about 200m, now going through a flooded section, I'm just worried that the car will stall," said Mr. Hung.
On roads such as Pham Van Chieu, Nguyen Van Khoi, Le Van Tho... (Go Vap district), water also flooded more than half the wheel, causing many vehicles to stall.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the coming days, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern provinces will be cloudy with rain, scattered showers and thunderstorms, some places will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain.
From about October 14 onwards, rain tends to decrease and occur sporadically, concentrated in the afternoon and evening, sunny during the day.
