Over 200 billion VND to expand the largest square in Thai Nguyen

After nearly half a year of implementation, the landscape construction project behind Vo Nguyen Giap Square - an urban highlight of Thai Nguyen City - has gradually emerged.

The project to build the landscape behind Vo Nguyen Giap Square has a total estimated investment of 200 billion VND, from the budget of Thai Nguyen City. The investor is the City Construction Investment Project Management Board, and construction started in August 2024.

This is a group B project, implemented on an area of about 25,000m2, with items including: roads, trees, sports fields, parking lots, trees, service works and essential accompanying works.

On January 6, according to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, after nearly half a year of implementation, the project has gradually taken shape.

At the construction site, workers, machines, and vehicles are urgently leveling the ground, filling the soil, constructing roads, slopes, and creating frames for concrete tanks...

Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, a worker at the project, said that after many months of construction, the area behind Vo Nguyen Giap Square has been leveled, cleared, and partially filled with soil to create a path.

"Currently, we are speeding up the construction progress of leveling and completing the concrete basins - this is where flowers and ornamental plants will be planted to create a landscape and green space.

"At the beginning, it rained a lot, so the construction was interrupted. The last months of the year were sunny, so the work went relatively smoothly," said Mr. Thinh.

Having a house located near Vo Nguyen Giap Square, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ly (Trung Vuong ward, Thai Nguyen city) said that when they heard the information about renovating the area behind the square, the people were very happy and excited.

Ms. Ly shared: "Before, behind the square, the trees were dense, weeds grew wildly, not to mention the garbage, it was dirty and unsanitary.

Now this area has been cleared to make way for the renovation project, so we no longer have to witness that scene. I really hope the project will be completed soon, helping to create a new landscape and expand the playground for the people of the area."

According to information from the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen City, the landscape construction project behind Vo Nguyen Giap Square is under construction and is expected to be completed and put into use in 2026.

This is one of the key projects of Thai Nguyen City with the goal of completing the landscape, creating urban beauty as well as gradually implementing the plan to develop green parks, expand entertainment spaces, and improve the spiritual life of people in the area.
