Merging two nature reserves in Quang Tri

Quang Tri - Dakrong Nature Reserve and Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve merged and had a new name.

On March 2, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province confirmed that it had decided to reorganize the Dakrong Nature Reserve Management Board and the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve Management Board.

After the merger, the two reserves will be named the Quang Tri Province Special-use Forest Management Board, under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri Province.

Mr. Truong Quang Trung, Director of the Dakrong Nature Reserve Management Board, was appointed by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to hold the position of Director of the Quang Tri Province Special Forests Management Board.

When merging, the number of deputies of the two conservation areas will remain the same, while Mr. Ha Van Hoan - Director of the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve Management Board will first appoint the deputy manager and will consider prioritizing the arrangement to move to another appropriate agency or unit after the merger.

The total number of professional and technical departments in the two conservation areas is six, after the merger, the number of departments will be reduced to two. The headquarters of the Quang Tri Province Special-use Forest Management Board is the headquarters of the Dakrong Nature Reserve Management Board located in Ta Long Commune (Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province).

It is known that the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve has an area of over 23,400 hectares (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province), while the Dakrong Nature Reserve has an area of over 37,000 hectares and also manages the legendary Ho Chi Minh Road Landscape Protection Area with an area of 5,200 hectares (Dakrong district, Quang Tri province).
