On the evening of November 15, at the Central Square of Trieu Phong District (Quang Tri Province), a ceremony was held to receive the Second Class Independence Medal and a certificate recognizing the district as meeting new rural standards.
In recognition of the outstanding achievements of Trieu Phong district in the process of building and defending the Fatherland, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam decided to award the Party Committee, government and people of Trieu Phong district the Second Class Independence Medal; the Prime Minister decided to recognize Trieu Phong district as meeting new rural standards in 2023.
At the ceremony, authorized by the President and Prime Minister, Mr. Le Quang Tung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee awarded the Second Class Independence Medal and decided to recognize Trieu Phong district as meeting new rural standards.
Trieu Phong district is located in the South of Quang Tri province. During the reign of the Nguyen lords from 1558 to 1626, Ai Tu - Tra Bat - Dinh Cat was chosen by Lord Tien Nguyen Hoang and Lord Sai Nguyen Phuc Nguyen as the place to establish the headquarters, the capital to govern the entire two regions of Thuan Hoa and Quang Nam.
In 1930, Trieu Phong was the place where the Quang Tri Provisional Provincial Party Committee was established. In the two resistance wars against foreign invaders, Trieu Phong fought bravely, achieved great victories, and contributed to writing glorious and heroic pages of history for the nation.
Peace was restored, with the support of superiors, the Party Committee and people of Trieu Phong district embarked on the task of overcoming the consequences of war. The district took the lead in land reclamation, restoration, mine clearance, investment in building technical infrastructure, serving people's lives.
Entering the period of innovation, the District Party Committee has constantly improved its leadership capacity, dynamism, creatively and effectively applied the Party's policies and guidelines to the cause of industrialization, modernization and international integration.
Thanks to that, people's lives are constantly improving; average income per capita in 2023 reached 68.5 million VND, an increase of 6.8 times compared to 2011, poor households decreased to 3.3%, a decrease of 6.9 times.
In particular, for more than 10 years, the whole district has mobilized people to voluntarily contribute to the installation of lighting lines with a total length of 325km; donated more than 100,000m2 of land, hundreds of thousands of working days and mobilized more than 1,600 billion VND, of which people contributed 67.8 billion VND to build welfare works, cultural institutions, traffic, flag roads, flower roads, green fences, build model residential areas... Currently, the whole district has 17/17 communes recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting new rural standards, reaching 100%, of which 3 communes have met advanced new rural standards, the district has completed 100% of the new rural district criteria.
At the ceremony, after receiving the Second Class Independence Medal and the decision to recognize Trieu Phong district as meeting new rural standards, a special art program took place, attracting a large number of people to watch.
