On September 2, the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue said that, regarding the incident of "3 cups of sugarcane juice for 90,000 VND" in front of a relic site in Hue, after receiving the report, the People's Committee of Thuy Xuan Ward (Hue City) conducted an inspection and verification.
Accordingly, the inspection team found that the restaurant posted prices publicly and sold at the listed prices, so the feedback from tourists was not complete. In addition, the establishment had 2 entrances, and the price list was placed in one entrance, making it difficult to see.
"The inspection team has no basis to penalize the business. The team reminds the business to fully inform about service prices and requires the price list to be placed in a place where customers can easily see to avoid misunderstandings" - said a representative of the Department of Tourism.
The leader of the People's Committee of Thuy Xuan Ward - where the business establishment "accused" by tourists is located, said: "We have come to work with the restaurant and requested that the business commitment must be posted. Not only this restaurant, but all establishments in our area have promoted and requested a commitment to healthy business. If any establishment is found to be in violation, we will severely punish them to preserve the image of Hue tourism as well as ensure the rights of tourists."
As Lao Dong reported, on August 31, some Facebook accounts posted articles with 2 pictures in Facebook groups with the content reflecting the purchase of 3 cups of sugarcane juice but had to pay the seller up to 90,000 VND.
The article attracted many likes, comments, and shares after being posted. Many social media users left comments expressing their indignation at the "price gouging", especially affecting the tourism environment in Hue.
