The historic flood in October 2025 caused serious landslides on National Highway 2, the section from Km285+995 to Km286+300, Ha Giang - Hanoi road, belonging to Ha Giang 1 ward.
At that time, almost the entire negative taluy in this area was eroded into the Lo River, forming a frog's mouth. The eroded negative taluy also revealed and damaged many underground construction items on the route.

Also at this location, a large crack appeared on the positive slope, running along the soil hill, with a very high risk of landslides.
As a key national highway connecting the northern communes with the provincial center and Hanoi Capital, National Highway 2 has thousands of vehicles circulating every day. The landslide situation threatens the safety of people and vehicles.
Faced with the increasingly complicated landslide situation, the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province has approved the additional investment in the item of Sustainability of the negative slope on the right side of the road section from Km0+25.13 to Km0+382.76 belonging to the National Highway 2 Upgrade and Expansion project.
Project from the contingency capital of the Green Urban Project - Ha Giang Sub-project. Total investment of the project is 122.5 billion VND.
The length of the negative taluy line needs to be treated is over 357m with a 25MPa reinforced concrete wall on a pile foundation 12 - 20m long, 1m in diameter.
When completed, the contractor will restore the demolished road surface area to serve the construction of retaining walls and other technical infrastructure items according to the design documents of the National Highway 2 upgrade and expansion project.
According to PV's records, contractors are currently focusing on constructing parallel reinforced concrete bored piles to build retaining walls. The entire construction section is barricaded and warned to ensure safety for vehicles passing through.

The project strives to complete the foundation of the wall before the rainy and flood season. Ensure that rain and floods do not further affect the roadbed of National Highway 2 on the construction section.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (Ha Giang 1 ward) said that National Highway 2 is a vital road connecting from the center of Tuyen Quang to the old Ha Giang area. The volume of vehicles passing through here every day is very large.
After the flood in 2025, every time people pass through this area, they cannot help but worry because the embankment is deeply engraved into the river. Emergency landslide prevention treatment on National Highway 2 is extremely necessary.
I hope the project will be completed before the rainy and flood season so that people can travel more conveniently and safely, and at the same time ensure smooth traffic on the route," Mr. Hai said.
