On August 28, information from the People's Committee of Tong Son commune, Thanh Hoa province said that the locality is coordinating with the authorities to urgently deploy the work to fix the broken canal II incident.

Previously, immediately after the incident on the night of August 26, the authorities and functional forces were present in time, organizing the evacuation of people and property from the dangerous area, ensuring absolute safety for people.
According to statistics, the incident did not cause any damage to people, houses and traffic, but many agricultural production areas were severely affected: 251.7 hectares of rice were flooded (of which 28 hectares were completely flooded), more than 50 hectares of vegetables, apricot blossoms, ornamental peach trees, corn, peanuts and 76 hectares of seafood were damaged.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tong Son commune - said that due to the small and weak location of the canal bank, the transportation of materials is difficult, and new roads must be opened to bring materials in, causing the repair work to take more time.
Currently, the locality continues to clear the flow and pump water to protect the remaining crop area, and at the same time coordinates with Bac Song Ma Company to reinforce the canal bank, ready to respond when there are complicated developments.
In addition, Tong Son commune proposed that the Provincial People's Committee soon invest in building a bridge to replace the Ho Mieu spillway, upgrading the drainage system at the expressway intersection in the area and supporting the construction of a pumping station in the old Ha Son area to minimize the risk of flooding, ensure production and people's lives.
