On November 2, Mr. Huynh Uy Vien - Chairman of Cam Lam Commune People's Committee - said that the Commune Police force had just discovered a facility in the area that slaughtered a large number of dead pigs and pigs suspected of being sick to bring to the market for consumption.
Previously, through professional measures, Cam Lam Commune Police discovered a slaughterhouse in Tan Sinh Dong village with signs of collecting and slaughtering dead pigs and sick pigs.
At around 0:30 on November 30, the working group of the Commune Police suddenly inspected and discovered more than 300 dead or suspectedly infected pigs being gathered here.
Of these, more than 100 were slaughtered. At the scene, the authorities recorded 5 people directly carrying out the slaughter.
Cam Lam Commune Police made a record and brought related people to the headquarters to investigate the act of collecting and slaughtering dead and sick pigs for consumption and illegal profits.
Mr. Huynh Uy Vien added that the case is currently being received by the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling (PC03) of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, in coordination with professional units to consolidate the case file and handle it according to the law.
Recently, Cam Lam commune has been a locality that has continuously experienced swine deaths due to African swine fever infection. The Commune People's Committee has directed specialized departments to coordinate with the Livestock and Veterinary Stations to deploy measures to handle outbreaks and disinfect barns to prevent the source of disease from spreading.
