On October 15, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that it had just issued a directive on continuing to strengthen state management in the mineral sector and ensuring legal discipline.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee directs relevant units to regularly conduct periodic and unscheduled inspections and checks to promptly detect and prevent illegal mining, transportation and processing of minerals in the province.
Especially waterways, borders, and key areas at risk of illegal mineral exploitation should focus on management and protection.
In particular, Khanh Hoa needs to study the use of modern technology in monitoring and managing mineral exploitation; strictly manage land, and take measures to prevent households, organizations and individuals from taking advantage of land leveling to illegally exploit and process minerals.
In addition, agencies and localities need to promptly rectify, criticize, and handle according to regulations organizations, collectives, civil servants, public employees, and workers who do not perform or do not fully perform their assigned responsibilities, allowing illegal mineral exploitation, transportation, and processing activities to occur in the area under their management...
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to continue advising on demarcating areas where mineral activities are prohibited and areas where mineral activities are temporarily prohibited in the province; reporting to the province to send to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for review and submission to the Prime Minister for approval according to regulations in December 2024.
