On March 21, in Quang Dong commune (Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province), Hon La Port Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Hon La International General Port Project. This is a key project to develop seaport infrastructure, promote socio-economic development of Quang Binh province and the region.
The Hon La International General Port Project has a scale of 2,299 billion VND, spread over an area of 39.22 hectares. The project is divided into 2 phases.

Phase 1: Build 2 wharves with a total length of 470m, including wharf No. 1 with a length of 230m and wharf No. 2 with a length of 240m, receiving general ships with a load capacity of up to 50,000 DWT, cargo ships with a load capacity of up to 70,000 DWT. The expected capacity is 3 million tons/year.
Phase 2: Build 2 more ports with a total length of 500m, including wharf No. 3 240m long and wharf No. 4 260m long, receiving ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 DWT. The expected capacity is 6 million tons/year.
Hon La Port is planned synchronously, including a warehouse system, logistics area and modern technical works. With a strategic location in a windy Hon La Bay, sheltered by Hon Co Island and Hon La Island, the port has an ideal natural depth, suitable for heavy-duty ships.
In addition, the port is located about 6 nautical miles near the coastal route, 360 nautical miles from the international route on the East Sea, about 4km from National Highway 1A, and 150km from Cha Lo International Border Gate. This is a favorable condition for connecting trade of goods from Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and neighboring economic regions.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Phong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province said that the project is an important milestone in the development of the province's seaport infrastructure, opening up opportunities for trade connections with major domestic and international economic centers.
Mr. Tran Phong emphasized that Hon La port not only plays a role in transporting goods, but also has the ability to receive international cruise ships, contributing to the development of marine tourism, promoting sustainable socio-economic development.

The Chairman of Quang Binh province requested investors to fulfill their commitments, ensure the quality, technical, and progress of the project, and closely coordinate with the government and relevant units to promptly resolve arising issues.
Mr. Tran Phong also emphasized the importance of the project in the context of Quang Binh setting a target of at least 8% economic growth by 2025, pledging that the provincial leaders will always accompany and support investors throughout the project implementation and operation process.
