On December 9, Quang Tri Provincial Police announced that they had just issued a decision to prosecute the accused and an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Thanh Son (born in 2000, residing in Trung Vu village, Hoa Trach commune) for the act of intentionally causing injury and illegally using military weapons.
At around 8:00 p.m. on October 12, 2025, due to a conflict with a relative, Son used a knife about 40cm long, rolled a wooden rope, and chased and slashed his younger brother Nguyen Thanh Hao. Discovering the incident, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh (Son's father) rushed forward to stop him, but Son swung a knife and slashed him in the head, so he had to be taken to Bac Quang Binh Regional General Hospital for emergency care.
Hoa Trach commune police arrived immediately after receiving the report, controlled Son and brought him to the headquarters for questioning. At the police station, Son admitted to all of his actions.
The assessment conclusion determined that the knife Son used was in the group of "high- lethality knives", the injury rate of Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh was 6%.
The Investigation Police Agency of Quang Tri Province Police has initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and temporarily detained Son to serve the investigation according to the law.
