On November 19, the Steering Committee for the 2021-2025 Military-Civilian Tet activities of Kien Giang province held a ceremony to launch the 2025 Military-Civilian Tet activities to celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay in Ban Thach commune, Giong Rieng district.
This program has the theme "Kien Giang Army - People celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay 2025" taking place for 5 months, from now until April 11, 2025. Many practical and meaningful activities will be carried out such as: Propagating the celebration of major holidays, important political events; building and giving away "Great Unity" houses; examining and providing medicine; giving gifts to policy families, poor and near-poor households, militia and self-defense forces, reserve mobilization forces; organizing cultural and artistic exchange activities, sports and folk games.
In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho - Head of the Steering Committee for the 2021 - 2025 Military-Civilian Tet activities emphasized: The traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Tet is a unique cultural feature of the Khmer people. The Provincial Steering Committee decided to choose Ban Thach commune, Giong Rieng district - a locality with a large Khmer population and a rich revolutionary tradition to organize the Military-Civilian Tet activities at the time when the Khmer people celebrate the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Tet in 2025.
Thereby, the armed forces, together with provincial departments and organizations, coordinated and joined hands with the locality to carry out many practical and meaningful activities, supporting and accompanying the Khmer people to celebrate the traditional New Year joyfully and warmly. At the same time, they deployed the construction of public works, contributing to the construction of new rural areas, creating a new look for the homeland.
At the departure ceremony, the Steering Committee for the 2021-2025 Military-Civilian Tet activities presented a symbolic plaque to support the construction of 58 solidarity houses to the People's Committee of Ban Thach Commune, Giong Rieng District, with a total value of 2.9 billion VND. The Provincial Association for Supporting Poor Patients awarded 10 scholarships to poor Khmer students who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies, each worth 500,000 VND.
After the launching ceremony, the Steering Committee started the construction of Ong Thiem canal bridge worth 250 million VND in Ta Yem hamlet with the support and contributions of union members and workers of Kien Giang banking industry, started the construction of a Great Solidarity house in Tran Tac Chien hamlet, Ban Thach commune, Giong Rieng district; surveyed the livelihood model supported by the Provincial Farmers' Association.
