Information from the authorities of Quang Ninh province today (October 30) said that on October 29, in Mong Cai city, officers and soldiers of Po Hen Border Post and Bac Son Border Post (Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard) coordinated to arrest a case of transporting animal organs of unknown origin in large quantities.
Accordingly, at 7:45 a.m. on October 29, at Km 87 + 400m, National Highway 18C, in Po Hen village, Hai Son commune, Mong Cai city, the Po Hen Border Guard Station working group in coordination with Bac Son Border Guard Station while performing their duties, discovered a pickup truck with license plate 14C-310.72 moving on National Highway 18C from Bac Son commune (Mong Cai city) to Bac Phong Sinh border gate (Hai Ha district) with suspicious signs. The working group asked the driver to stop and inspected the vehicle.
At the time of inspection, the driver admitted his name was Nguyen Viet Duc, born on November 11, 1998, residing in Hamlet 3, Hai Xuan Commune, Mong Cai City. The vehicle was carrying 18 foam boxes, each containing 50kg of frozen pork belly with a total weight of 900kg. All of these goods had no documents proving their origin or legality.
Through initial investigation and verification, Duc confessed to transporting the goods for a man in exchange for payment. Currently, Po Hen Border Guard Station is completing the documents to handle the case according to the law.
From July 2024 to now, authorities have continuously arrested cases of transporting pig organs of unknown origin in very large quantities.
Notably, on the night of July 8, 2024, the Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force (Quang Ninh Border Guard) coordinated with Hai Hoa Border Guard Station (Quang Ninh Border Guard) to arrest a subject who was illegally transporting more than 3,100 kg of frozen pork belly without legal documents in the Mong Cai border area.
Then, on July 17, 2024, the patrol and control team of Tra Co Border Guard Station was on duty in the sea area of Trang Vi, Tra Co ward, Mong Cai city, discovered and arrested a raft of unlicensed styrofoam wood that was traveling from the border to the embankment area of Trang Vi area.
Through inspection, the Border Guard force determined that the vehicle was driven and owned by Nguyen Van Chung, born in 1992, residing in Group 11, Trang Lo area, Tra Co ward, Mong Cai city; the vehicle was carrying 9 sacks of pineapple, containing frozen pig brain, with a total weight of over 500kg.
