After 20 days of urgent construction, 24 households who completely lost their homes in the flash flood in Muong Than commune (Lai Chau) have received resettlement houses and soon stabilized their lives.
On the morning of August 6, Lai Chau province held a ceremony to hand over resettlement housing to 24 households who lost their homes due to the flash flood that occurred on July 17 in Muong Than commune.
The flash flood killed and injured 17 people, swept away many houses, destroyed traffic infrastructure, electricity, water and caused damage of nearly 250 billion VND.
Among the affected households, 24 families completely lost their homes and had to be urgently relocated.
Immediately after the natural disaster, Lai Chau province implemented the construction of an emergency resettlement area for households.
The project mobilized the participation of departments, branches, localities, along with Military Region 2 forces, the Academy of Logistics and hundreds of officers and soldiers of the armed forces.
Construction teams worked continuously according to the motto "3 shifts, 4 teams", helping the project to be completed 15 days ahead of schedule.
At the ceremony, 24 households were handed over houses and received Certificates of Land Use Rights.
Representing the households, Mr. Lo Van Bun said that the new houses are a great source of encouragement, helping families feel secure in stabilizing their lives and restoring production after natural disasters.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lai Chau Provincial Party Secretary Le Minh Ngan said that the completion of the resettlement area is the result of the joint efforts of all levels, sectors, armed forces and organizations and individuals to support the locality in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
According to Mr. Le Minh Ngan, in the coming time, the province will continue to mobilize resources to build a concentrated resettlement area in Muong Than commune, striving to allocate residential land and support the stabilization of life for 296 households affected by natural disasters.
