Lam Dong mobilizes unmanned aerial vehicles, drills to respond to natural disasters

Lam Dong has just organized a civil defense drill with more than 500 people and dozens of vehicles participating in handling hypothetical natural disaster situations.

On November 12, in Tuyen Lam Lake area, Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward, the Steering Committee for the CH-25 Exercise of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee organized a civil defense exercise at the commune and ward levels in 2025.

The exercise was attended by more than 500 people from military, police, and medical forces, along with cadres, civil servants, public employees and people of Xuan Huong ward.

The exercise mobilized 43 vehicles and equipment such as canoes, boats, ambulances, trucks, large-scale unmanned aerial vehicles and 2 service dogs of the border guards.

hypothetical situation due to the impact of the storm, in Group 18, Xuan Huong - Da Lat ward, a landslide occurred, burying 3 houses, and many roads were cut off. The forces quickly deployed search and rescue of the victims, took them to the first aid station and transferred them to the higher level.

Next, rising floodwaters flooded a residential area, many people were swept away or trapped on roofs and floating rafts. Rescue forces used canoes and motorboats to approach and bring people to safety.

In another situation, 12 households with 71 people were isolated due to floods, at risk of being swept away by water. The Ward People's Committee and the Civil Defense Command mobilized all forces and rescue vehicles to evacuate people, and at the same time controlled 4 drones to release food and drinking water to people in isolation.

After handling the situations, the preventive medical force approached the disaster area and sprayed disinfectants in the environment.

Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Exercise Steering Committee - said that the exercise not only simulates situations but is also an opportunity to assess the practical capacity of all levels, sectors and forces.

Thereby helping to improve skills, awareness of prevention and effective response when natural disasters and incidents occur.

Mr. Muoi added that Lam Dong has recently suffered many damages due to natural disasters, storms and floods that killed 3 people, broke a reservoir in Tuy Phong, thousands of houses were flooded, total damage was about 250 billion VND.

In particular, the reservoir failure at Viet Phong Phu farm (Tuy Phong commune) and the risk of Cay An irrigation lake burst, forcing the authorities to mobilize hundreds of people overnight to evacuate nearly 100 households from the danger zone.

According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, this drill mobilizes the entire political system of communes and wards in the province. After the exercise, localities need to learn from and learn from experience to proactively and effectively respond when real situations occur.
