On September 5, Lam Dong Provincial People's Council held the 18th session, term X, term 2021-2026.
At the meeting, Lam Dong Provincial People's Council voted to pass a Resolution approving the policy of merging the three districts of Cat Tien, Da Teh, and Da Huoai into Da Huoai district.
The new Da Huoai district after the merger has an area of over 1,448km2 (reaching more than 170% of the standard), a population of over 146,000 people (reaching about 183% of the standard), including 18 communes and 5 towns.
Previously, more than 90% of voters in the three districts of Cat Tien, Da Teh, and Da Huoai agreed to merge into one district-level administrative unit. Most of them wanted to use the name Da Huoai for the administrative unit after the merger.
In addition, Doan Ket commune and Da P'loa commune were merged to form a new commune called Ba Gia commune; Ha Lam commune and Phuoc Loc commune were merged to form Ha Lam commune; Da Ton commune and Da Oai commune were merged to form Da Oai commune; Trieu Hai commune and Quang Tri commune were merged to form Quang Tri commune, all belonging to the new Da Huoai district.
At the meeting, the People's Council of Lam Dong province also decided to merge the entire natural area and population size of Quang Lap commune and Pro commune to establish a new commune, named Quang Lap commune, Don Duong district.
The commune has a natural area of 97.63km² (195.26% of the standard), and a population of 14,177 people (283.54% of the standard).
The place name Da Huoai was formed in 1979 on the basis of the separation of Bao Loc district into Bao Loc district and Da Huoai district.
In 1986, Da Huoai district continued to be divided into Da Huoai, Da Teh and Cat Tien districts to this day.
