On October 14, the Farmers' Association of Ngu Thuy Commune (Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province) had clearer information about the incident involving Mr. Ngo Van Lu who was beaten and hospitalized.
Previously, the Ngu Thuy Commune Farmers' Volleyball Tournament, organized by the Commune Farmers' Association, took place over two days, October 9-10.
The qualifying round went smoothly, but an unexpected incident occurred in the quarter-finals of 8 teams on the morning of October 10.
According to the match schedule, the first team in this group will play the second team in the other group. But when the team of the Farmers' Association of Liem Tien village was scheduled to play the first match on the morning of October 10, this team refused, wanting to play the second and third matches that would take place later.
From here, an argument broke out between the teams, lasting for more than an hour, showing signs of disorder. The commune police intervened, after which the teams and the people dispersed.
The organizing committee met with the teams that reached the quarterfinals and announced the suspension of the tournament, hoping for people's understanding and no further discussion.
After that, Mr. Ngo Van Lu posted a satirical poem on Facebook, the main content of which was about the organization of the volleyball tournament failing. Along with that, there was a sentence that specifically pointed out Liem Tien village for its unfair competition: “Liem Tien was fickle about winning and losing. The plot to change the rules was ruined…”.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, according to Mr. Ngo Van Luyt, on the evening of October 10, Mr. Ngo Van Luyt (55 years old, Mr. Luyt's father) and his wife, Mrs. Ngo Thi Mai (54 years old, Mr. Luyt's mother) were having dinner. At this time, suddenly a group of about 7 strangers in 2 cars broke into Mr. Luyt's house and assaulted his father.
These people beat his father until he fell unconscious on the spot. Mrs. Mai promptly ran out to the yard to call for help.
“At that time, those people grabbed my father’s legs and dragged him to the front porch and continued to beat him. When they saw the neighbors running over, they stopped and then left the scene in their car. When they left, the Ngu Thuy Commune Police force was present at my family’s house to record the incident,” said Mr. Luyt.
According to Mr. Luyt, the reason could be that on October 9 and 10, the Farmers' Association of Ngu Thuy commune organized a volleyball tournament. Due to poor organization, the teams complained to the Organizing Committee and withdrew from the tournament.
That's why Luyet's father wrote a poem about this volleyball tournament and posted it on Facebook. It's possible that from here, the above people came to Luyet's house to assault his father.
Ngu Thuy Commune Police (Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province) summoned 7 people involved in the disturbance of public order that occurred at Mr. Ngo Van Lu's house. Initially, these people admitted to beating Mr. Lu.
