Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 3 (storm Wipha), many localities in Hai Phong City have proactively implemented preventive and control measures to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
On the morning of July 20, the working group of Thanh Dong Ward inspected the Comprehensive Area of the Pumping Factory in Zone 8 (in the old Nguyen Trai Ward) and the Comprehensive Area of Zone 16 (in the old Binh Han Ward) - areas with many households living in degraded houses.
Here, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hoa - Secretary of the Ward Party Committee requested the Ward Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense to urgently review and proactively arrange safe accommodation for households.
At the same time, Thanh Dong ward needs to maintain a force on duty, prepare adequate materials and means, and be ready to handle flooding situations when heavy rain continues. The response must ensure the "4 on-site" motto.

On the same day, the People's Committee of Thach Khoi Ward also urgently deployed storm prevention measures. The leaders of the Ward People's Committee have directly inspected areas at risk of flooding and directed the dredging of drainage systems, planted stakes and warning ropes in low-lying areas, dangerous areas during heavy rain.
At the Tu Minh Ward bridge, representatives of the People's Committee of Thach Khoi Ward and members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense attended fully and seriously, receiving instructions from the Central Government and the city, ready to deploy solutions to ensure safety for local people.
With a spirit of urgency and proactiveness, Thanh Dong and Thach Khoi wards are focusing highly on responding to storm No. 3, protecting people's lives and property.
Hai Phong warns of dozens of locations at risk of forest landslides
According to the review of the Hai Phong City Forest Protection Department, there are currently nearly 30 areas in the city that are identified as having a high risk of landslides, especially in the wards that were once in Kinh Mon town and the old Thuy Nguyen city.
Of which, 7 areas have been identified as areas at risk of landslides, including: Go Pass (Pham Su Manh Ward), Bulu Mountain (Bac An Phu Ward), An Phu Area (Tran Lieu Ward), Deo Mountain (Thuy Nguyen Ward), and Hoa Binh, Le Ich Moc and Bach Dang Wards.
In western wards such as Chi Linh, Tran Dang Dao, Nguyen Trai, Le Dai Hanh, nearly 20 areas with steep terrain, cliffs from 5 to 8m high, slopes from 30 to 80°, with many households living nearby, with a high risk of landslides during the rainy and stormy season were also recorded.
Some points have been basically handled, but to proactively respond, the Forest Protection Department requested the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special areas with forests to strengthen inspection and review of forest land locations adjacent to residential areas, agencies, and traffic routes. Along with that, it is necessary to promote propaganda and instruct people not to take shelter in temporary camps in the forest during heavy rain, to ensure safety.
The authorities are also required to put up warning signs, organize control and traffic diversion at points at risk of landslides. During stormy days, people are advised to temporarily stop afforestation to avoid risks.
