Quang Ngai - Provincial leaders requested urgent handling of the incident of a garbage breeze at Ngoc Hoi treatment area, garbage and wastewater overflowing out, causing environmental pollution.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, on July 30, a number of news agencies and newspapers reported: Ngoc Hoi solid waste treatment complex (Bo Y commune, Quang Ngai province) after many delays to put into operation since April 2025, encountered a "huge" problem with the garbage storage room. A large amount of water and waste flowed down, filling fish ponds and crops of households, and seriously affecting the surrounding environment.

The water and waste were washed away, causing silting up the operating house area, two wastewater treatment ponds in the Ngoc Hoi solid waste treatment complex, along with many fish ponds and crops of nearby residents.

Regarding this content, Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province - assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and related units to urgently verify the feedback according to regulations.

At the same time, units are required to report and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to direct the handling of incidents and violations (if any) during the project implementation; ensure the project is operated safely and does not affect the environment. The completion date is before August 8, 2025.

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, the landfill at Ngoc Hoi Waste Treatment Area was broken, garbage and wastewater spilled out, burying 9 hectares of agricultural land.
