On July 20, information from the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station (Nghe An Provincial Border Guard) said that the unit had organized visits and encouragement for fishermen in distress at sea due to the impact of bad weather.
Previously, at around 8:20 p.m. on July 19, while fishing in the coastal area of Hai Loc commune and Cua Lo ward, fishermen's vehicles suddenly encountered a strong thunderstorm.
The patchwork of Mr. Dau Van Thuan (born in 1976) carrying Mr. Can Van Dung (born in 1979), also residing in Bac Son hamlet, Hai Loc commune, capsized about 2km from the coast. After many hours drifting at sea, at around 0:20 on July 20, the two were lucky to discover, rescue and bring the vehicle of Mr. Ngo Van Thai (in the same commune) to shore safely.
At the same time, the crab boat of Mr. Nguyen Van Trung (born in 1972, residing in Hai Thinh hamlet, Hai Loc commune) was also sunk by large waves about 1km from shore. Mr. Trung swam to port No. 6 of Vissai International Port himself and was promptly supported by the authorities to bring him to shore.
The crab of Mr. Hoang Trong Dong (born in 1980, residing in Bac Son hamlet, Hai Loc commune) had a broken engine while operating about 3km from the shore. After many hours of drifting, at 1:00 a.m. on July 20, Mr. Dong's vehicle was towed safely to shore by a fishing boat.
According to estimates, the storms caused nearly 200 million VND in property damage to the fishermen.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station sent a working group to visit, encourage and provide initial support to the families of the victims. At the same time, the unit continues to coordinate with local authorities to monitor the situation and instruct fishermen to proactively take measures to ensure safety when participating in exploitation at sea during the rainy and stormy season.
