The worry of losing land, livelihood loss
Over the past 1 month, a series of unexpected pits appeared in the field of Kim Lu commune (Na Ri district, Bac Kan), causing the lives of the people here to be turned upside down. This phenomenon not only causes arable soil to be "gnawed" but also leads to worries about the risk of unsafe when cracks tend to spread.
As a household near the subsidence point, Mr. Nong Van Truong (Na Ri) has not been shocked every time he recalled the moment when people were plowing the field when the ground suddenly fell down, forming a deep pit.
"Around the afternoon on 11.4, when I was working nearby, I heard a loud noise rang out. I rushed to see the surrounding ground was cracked and revealed a hole about 3m wide, more than 2m deep. The people at that time only knew how helplessly looked at every inch of the land swallowed" - Mr. Truong said.
Also according to Mr. Truong, this is not the first time the subsidence situation has occurred in the field. Since the beginning of the year, this area has continuously appeared a slump with different sizes accompanied by long cracks on the field, causing people to cultivate.
"The old hole has not been overcome, now appears a new hole. The familiar capital work has become an insecurity.
Not only is the risk of unsafe, people here also watch the worries of livelihoods when many households look at a few acres of fields to feed their families. The unexpected pits appeared, causing damaged land area
Mr. Chu Van Thuong - Kim Lu commune (Na Ri) - shared: "The recent subsidence status, especially in the farming field of the people is also very worried, now leaving is not, making the fear of falling pit at the foot.
Implement safety measures
Regarding the incident, Mr. Luong Thanh Loc - Permanent Vice Chairman of Na Ri District People's Committee - said that on April 11, a new hole appeared in the field of Mr. Hoang Van Hieu's household. This pit position is about 50m on National Highway 3B on Highway 3B.
From March 28, this area has appeared 3 subsidence holes with a depth of 5 - 8m. The locations are about 50 - 70m apart. Immediately after receiving the information, the authorities conducted inspections, and stretched the wire, plugged in warning signs to ensure safety.
According to the preliminary assessment, the location of Karst caves subsidence (the phenomenon of typical weathering of the limestone mountains that are eroded by water), below there is a flow of underground water that often drags soil and rock causing subsidence.
Na Ri district authorities are currently actively propagating and mobilizing people not to close to the subsidence areas to avoid accidents at the same time, conducting a list of more than 20 households at risk of being affected and ready to relocate if the subsidence situation becomes complicated, to ensure safety for the life and property of the people.
The subsidence in Kim Lu commune is seriously threatening the safety and livelihoods of the people. Although the government has implemented protection measures, it is necessary to have a long -term solution to help people feel secure to cultivate.
