According to Ms. Binh, on the evening of the incident, after lowering the barrier to wait for the train to pass, a couple still wanted to pass. She explained that the barrier was automatic and that raising it when the train was approaching was very dangerous, and suggested that they wait for the train to pass. The couple agreed and did not react.
However, nearby there was a couple who kept cursing. Ms. Binh did not know who they were cursing at. A man driving a motorbike taxi arbitrarily lifted the barrier to let the couple pass. Ms. Binh stopped this action, explaining that improperly lifting the barrier could damage the equipment.
“Maybe they misunderstood that I was cursing at them, so the wife suddenly jumped in and beat me up. I tried to fight back but it was ineffective,” Ms. Binh recounted.
Currently, Ms. Binh's spirit is more stable. "I am determined not to reconcile, even though from morning until now, the person who beat me has continuously called and texted to ask for reconciliation," Ms. Binh said. On the same day, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dang, Deputy Director of Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company, visited and encouraged her.
