On July 16, the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi commune, Ca Mau province, said that a drowning accident had just occurred in the area, killing 2 students.
The victims were N.H.H (13 years old, 7th grade student) and T.P (16 years old, 11th grade student), both living in Tran Van Thoi commune.
According to initial information, at around 5:00 p.m. on July 15, H and P went playing football. After that, they went swimming together in a pond in Hamlet 5, Tran Van Thoi Commune.
While swimming, P unfortunately drowned (due to not knowing how to swim). Seeing that, H swam close to help bring her friend to shore, but because the pond was too deep, H was also submerged in water.
H and P's friends saw the incident and informed the adults to come and help, but when everyone helped them go down to the pond to bring the two students to shore, they had died.
The incident was then reported to the local authorities.
After receiving the report, the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi commune sent forces to record the scene of the incident.
After completing the relevant procedures, the authorities handed over the bodies of H and P to the family for burial according to local customs.
