To date, local authorities have been forced to destroy 10,251 pigs, with a total weight of more than 637 tons, causing heavy damage to thousands of livestock households.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City, by August 6, the epidemic had appeared in 52/9 Commune and Ward, with 2,709 livestock households in 384 villages and residential areas affected. Of which, 8 communes including: Xuan Phu, An Thang, Phu Thuan, Tra My, Son Cam Ha, Que Son Trung, Phuoc Tra and Dien Ban Tay have officially announced the epidemic to implement urgent measures to suppress the epidemic.

Currently, the total number of pigs in the city is estimated at 189,274, with Son Cam Ha commune and Viet An commune alone having the largest number of pigs, respectively 10,525 and 10,457. This shows that the risk of the epidemic continuing to spread is very high if not controlled promptly.
In this situation, the city has urgently established an Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control and 2 Mobile Inspection Teams to monitor and inspect epidemic prevention work in localities. At the same time, more than 8,300 liters of chemicals have been distributed to disinfect and disinfect the livestock environment, preventing the spread of the epidemic.

The announcement of the epidemic in localities aims to synchronously deploy strong measures to quickly control the spread of the virus, minimizing losses to people.
However, with the current large number of destroyed pigs, many livestock farming households are in a state of being left empty-handed, in great need of timely support from all levels of the economy to soon stabilize production.
Urgently disburse 90.5 billion VND to support livestock farmers in Da Nang
The Department of Agriculture of Da Nang City said that it has proposed that the City People's Committee direct the Department of Finance to advise on allocating funds to localities to support pig farmers whose pigs were destroyed by the epidemic in the two years 2021-2022, with a total amount of more than 90.5 billion VND according to Notice No. 288/TB-UBND dated June 24, 2025 of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (old).
At the same time, it is recommended to promptly submit to the City People's Committee to supplement support funds for cases of livestock destruction due to disease in the period from 2023 to April 30, 2025.
According to the Department of Agriculture, the delay in granting funding to support livestock farmers from 2021 to present has significantly affected the direction and implementation of current epidemic prevention and control measures. Resolutely resolving the support policy is extremely urgent to create trust and support people in the fight against diseases in livestock.
