On December 2, An Giang Power Company said it had deployed many large-capacity generators to temporarily serve electricity to people in the North of Phu Quoc Island due to underground cable incidents causing power outages.
According to the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade, in the temporary power supply plan to minimize power outages due to incidents, An Giang Power Company has transferred part of the load from the 110kV Phu Quoc transformer station to receiving the power of the 110kV Nam Phu Quoc transformer station via a 22kV line to restore power supply to the maximum capacity, however, the power transmission capacity is only about 36MW compared to the load demand before the incident of 76MW (equivalent to about 47.4%); at the same time, coordinate with the People's Committee of Phu Quoc special zone to mobilize businesses and large customers to have a reserve source to operate generators to reduce power supply pressure.
The electricity industry mobilized about 20 mobile generators of the industry in the Southern region to supplement. Currently, all customers and residents on Phu Quoc Island have been supplied with electricity. Of which, customers in the North of Phu Quoc island are supplied with rotating electricity to about 7,530 customers. It is expected that on December 2, 2025, at least 15 generators will be mobilized to supply electricity to the Northern Oil Branch area of Phu Quoc Island.
An Giang province also assigned the Department of Construction, the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant units to urgently fix the power outage of the Ha Tien - Phu Quoc 110kV underground cable line to soon ensure power supply for the Phu Quoc special zone, serve the people's lives and production and business activities; at the same time, clarify the causes and responsibilities of related organizations and individuals, in case of signs of criminal law violations, report and propose to transfer to the investigation agency for handling according to the provisions of law.
The relevant functional sectors and units will support and create all favorable conditions, necessary means and equipment for An Giang Power Company in the process of finding out the cause and fixing the problem. The Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with An Giang Power Company to implement a temporary plan to supply power to Phu Quoc special zone during the process of handling this underground cable problem.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of An Giang, after consulting with specialized units and companies with experience, construction capacity, and 110kV underground cable processing across the country, the Southern Power Corporation agreed on a plan to handle temporary power supply in the shortest time to restore power supply to Phu Quoc special zone.

Blow sand and pull the underground cables off the water surface; cut the underground cables at the affected location using a specialized cutter; produce and install 4 temporary pillars and 1 sea floor to pull the 110kV floating line from the shore to the connection point of the affected underground cables.
At the launching location, a connection will be made with a 110kV underground cable to Phu Quoc (after cutting off the damaged section and handling and installing the underground cable head). Other work will be carried out in parallel to speed up the progress of handling and fixing the problem of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line to soon complete to provide stable electricity for Phu Quoc special area.
Previously, at 1:45 p.m. on November 29, a problem occurred on the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc power line supplying power to the 110kV Phu Quoc transformer station, causing a power outage in the areas of Duong Dong, Cua Can, Cua Duong, Ham Ninh and the entire northern area of the island.
An Giang Power Company has urgently organized an inspection of the 110kV underground section crossing the Ha Tien - Phu Quoc sea. Thereby, it is noted that Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd. is constructing a railing in the safety corridor of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line on the Ha Tien coast. According to initial records, the forced strengthening of the steel piles on the taxiway was the cause of the incident in the 110kV underground cable section supplying electricity to Phu Quoc special area.
